LegalPub.com, Inc. is a privately held legal publishing company located in Harvard, Massachusetts. The company was founded in 1989 by a practicing attorney who wanted a compact and portable source of court rules for federal litigation. The company’s first product was the Litigator’s Pocket Diary™. By providing fingertip access to the federal civil rules, the diary became a bestseller. Since 1989, thousands of attorneys across the country have used the diary to “master” the rules.
We also found a need for a more current and less expensive source for the federal rules. Federal courts normally amend their rules on December 1st of each year. Yet, most publishers take months to publish updated rule books. They also charge an exorbitant price for a single book.
In 1994, we began our line of annual paperback “booklets”. We started with the Federal Civil Rules Booklet and the U.S. Bankruptcy Code & Rules Booklet. In 2007, we added the Federal Criminal Code & Rules Booklet. These books are published in January of each year, just weeks after new rule changes become law. And they are a fraction of the price charged by other publishers. They are used by law firms, schools, bar associations, government agencies, and businesses throughout the United States and abroad.
We closely monitor the Federal rule making process and developments in Congress that may impact the rules and select portions of the U.S. code. When significant changes occur, we publish special edition books such as our “black line” version of the bankruptcy code and The New E-Discovery Rules.
In 2007, we changed our name from “Dahlstrom Legal Publishing, Inc.” to our domain name “LegalPub.com, Inc.”
